Today I went to Berkeley primarily to get the type of paper I like (Borden & Riley #116 sketch vellum, which is awesome), and wound up scoring more awesome at Half Price Books. I got the complete run of Grendel: War Child for $4, which I'm luridly happy about.
While waiting on the bus, I crack into issue 1 (or 41 depending on chronology), and at the back there's this article about hey, why hasn't there been any new Grendel for 2 years, etc. The last publisher before Dark Horse went bankrupt, and as part of Matt Wagner's explanation, he reprints an article which includes;
These are hard times; Democrats say it's a depression, Republicans say it's a recession, right-wing Republicans (rich millionaires, that is) say it's a mild recession, and George Bush says it's a slow recovery.
This is from May of 1992.
