The Buddha's life parallels the spread of Buddhism from west to east.
He starts out in India, as a handsome prince who has everything, and yet somehow he is never satisfied. Cue musical number.
He studies on his own for ages, in incredibly harsh conditions, never losing sight of his goal, until he gains incredible power and understanding and even takes on Mara itself. Cue training montage and bamboo forest fight.
But in the end, as all things must fail, he has some snacks and dies. Cue shakuhachi music and rain.
