Apr. 4th, 2013 11:49 pmIt says something about the impact the AD&D Fiend Folio had on my imagination that, immediately after reading through a recent "Oglaf" comic about a robed skeleton cursing tomb robbers to be the world's best at blow jobs, the first place I think to go afterwards is Russ Nicholson's blog.
It's my personal belief that a lot of the FF's "iconic" monsters would have been immediately forgotten without Russ Nicholson illustrations. Case in point; when's the last time you saw a gorbel, salamen or crabmen in a WotC or Paizo product? Okay, so it's not a universal rule (when's the last time you saw a garbug, algoid or lizard king?).
And now I go to bed, more than a little embarrassed that I remember that many creatures from the FF.
