Also the Call of Duty ads? I too can participate in modern style warfare? Make me more inclined towads WoW and other medieval fantasy.

If we're all about gritty with subdued color etc, I'd like to know when a WWI themed FPS will come out. ANZAC: VERDUN RISING or something.

Wield state of the art weapons like the SMLE Mk III or Webley vs. modern terrors like gas, captured "Big Willies" & aircraft! #AnzacTheGame

That ought to be suitably grimdark and militaristic enough for the most Hooah! of macho military themed gamers eh?

Risk drowning in mud! Survive five days underground while being shelled! Get into desperate fights with sharpened entrenching tools!#WWIGame

BONUS DOWNER ENDING! Play as a German! The game's epilogue tells you that 20 years after the war you died in Auschwitz. #WWIGame

Today's game idea, inspired by listening to the "Captain America" soundtrack and the "Desert epic" playlist.

The USA and the 1930s/40s aren't, as most comics histories hold, the first places where superpowers cropped up. People with superpowers have been around here and there since the 1700s, maybe before. Where they appeared up their powers weren't noted because they usually kept them under wraps - either to avoid unwelcome attention or because they used them in service to the governments or private interests of the time. The only reason why the US and the 30s/40s made this visible is because of the very distinctly American sense of individualism and personal empowerment.

So; it's the 1930s and the characters are superpowered British agents sent to Cairo to investigate and deal with possible threats. The British promised Egypt independence and then promptly didn't grant it, so militants kill something on the order of one foreigner every week, and meanwhile the archaeology business is booming. So our heros deal with things like;

  • given that if they go rogue there's not really all that much the King's government can do to stop them, are they going to be the archetypical enforcers of Imperial will, will they try for some sort of fair compromise about Egyptian nationalism, or will they actually go rogue, etc etc?

  • how do they react to the new American openness, by comparison to the polite secrecy or government service that shrouds Britain's supers?

  • how do they react to the classic pulp threats of Nazi supers and recently unearthed New Kingdom evils?
