neat detail
Oct. 31st, 2012 03:17 pmLast night I stopped in at Endgame, which helped with being kinda on edge, and consequently got back fairly late.
What I guess - because I was still a little too nervous to go up and ask people - was there was some sort of decorated-house-ride. Alameda has a few people who really love decorating their place for the holidays, and some exceptionally nice Victorians, so it's a good place for Halloween that way. At any rate, a huge line of cycles, lit by brightly flickering little headlamps, as their riders, mostly adults with some kids, all in helmets, some with reflective vests, most wearing those fleece jackets, standing around outside, with a big cluster scoping out the posed skeletons at one nearby house. I've never seen so many bicycles in one place on the island, and under the cloudy sky it was a little magical. I was kinda too easily intimidated and too out of it to want to grab my bike and join them.
Sort of like what I think a Norman Rockwell childhood would involve, getting to ride around with your parents looking at Halloween stuff like that.
