Danse des Ceratopsiens
Oct. 12th, 2012 01:40 pmI hadn't previously noticed how much Jerry Goldsmith referenced The Rite of Spring for Alien. I'm not sure how intentional that is. "Hey! This thing caused a riot when it debuted, it should be pretty disquieting."
This leads in turn to listening to The Rite of Spring, which was such an awesome part of Fantasia that the sheer beauty of stuff like the Nutcracker Suite and the Pastoral Symphony barely registered. As a kid I came out of the theater wanting to be an Allosaurus when I grew up. Upon finding out that wasn't going to happen, I wanted to be a paleontologist when I grew up. I don't remember just how disappointed I was to find out that very very few people actually get to be paleontologists when they grow up. And what's really ironic is that I came out of this beautiful sequence without wanting to be an animator.
Now I am imagining watching the movie RHPS style, and yelling DINO DAMAGE! every time the Allosaurus bites the Stegosaur, or every time it gets a thagomizer to the noggin. That and waving a lighter in the air during the drought sequence.
