3.5 delved only very shyly into the subject of sexual orientation - mention was made of a couple of NPCs in same-sex relationships, in passing, and that was it. Pathfinder apparently doesn't have quite the same restrictions, and supposedly Paizo's officially said 1) all of the iconics are bisexual unless stated otherwise and 2) one of the iconics is truly homosexual.

So as well as prompting comments about Wayne Reynold's fantastic character portraits (really. There's stuff to mock about them, sure, but I think they're incredible!), the GM screen also means our group's talked a little about which one of the iconics is actually gay. An out of character discussion to occupy the same valuable game time which could have been spent 1) shopping in character, 2) referencing other games, 3) talking about werewolf-themed art, 4) discussing how much sorcerers wear, 5) talking about stuff on YouTube, etc., etc...

Jummi thinks it's the monk, thanks to his Folsom Street Fair like display of pectorals. Sam has been following this debate on the forums - Sam's opinion is, it's probably not the wizard, since the picture of that character using a gender-swap belt shows someone perhaps a little too happy with boobies to be all that gay. Not likely to be the fighter, since Valeros traveled in an all-female party for a while and might be the Best Gay Friend - but his character history shows him as at least very interested in women. We are all agreed it is not the bard - that is not the face of someone who's picky about who he dates. My personal theory is that the gay or lesbian iconic is actually the paladin, since she's butch and has all the tools, or more likely the ranger, for being the biggest bear of the group. Seriously. This is where all the chest hair went in the iconic adventuring party.

Winding down towards bed after drive home/late night necessity shopping/getting stuff in order for long day tomorrow. So here's the short review of Saturday's game;

Most badass roll-playing moment; Sam rolled a natural 20 on a Scorching Ray and then got lucky on damage. The result was a big 60 points of damage to this lamia villainess who only had, like, 145 hit points total.

Most badass role-playing moment; I thought I won badass awards this time around. We decided to sow chaos at the captured fortress to make sure the ogres were focused on anywhere other than the waterfall by the secret passage. We did this by having the paladin yell challenges at the ogres to draw them away from the gate - then use a potion of firebreathing to further damage them and make sure they were wandering through the woods huntin' hobbit - then dropping an invisibility on the paladin (nobody said Lawful Good halflings stopped fighting like halflings). This meant that Cadell got to stand in front of four charging, angry ogres, calmly breathing fire on three of them before turning tail - while the invisible flying sorceress backing him up set fire to the barracks. But wait, there's more...

... one of the ogre chieftains turned out to have several levels in ranger, a favored enemy of humans, and a humanbane "ogre hook." Rather than let himself be cornered in the room, he took a few AoOs, bull rushed the druid into a wall, and dropped the ranger - who'd been hanging back as archery support - to -5 hp with two lucky hits. Cadell's response was to smite the chieftain, but didn't get any attacks in - instead, the paladin dragged the ranger out of immediate range, used his now AC 30 body to block any incoming attacks, and used lay on hands to get the ranger back up to 15 hp. Fortunately a few attacks got rid of the chieftain before he could pummel a paladin.

Funniest moment; after defeating the lamia, Jummi filking "I'm gonna go/buy some cigarettes!" to the tune of the "Final Fantasy" end of fight game. I can't remember the rest of the song. It was all freakin' brilliant.
