Dear upper middle class societally valued parents; the world isn't your private nursery. You and your daughter are some childfree person's worst stereotype of what humanity is destroying and devouring our planet in order to achieve.

S. and I went out to supper at a Chinese/Japanese/American buffet the other evening. There was a small child running wild all over the restaurant; I almost tripped on him, and he very nearly ran into the kitchens. I was very seriously tempted to go over to the parents and threaten to eat their kid if they didn't get him under control.

Seriously, there's gotta be some good way to go talk to the parents and still be polite about this stuff. I guess having a kid pull this stuff makes me feel like the parents are people who won't listen to their kid, why would they listen to some total stranger asking them to reel the kid back in?
