Turns out fewer horse bones show up in Britain after around 500-700 CE, possibly because that's when Christianity really took off there. This interests me because I've run into it before, in Olaf Trygvasson's saga, the part before Svöldr where they basically diss on the Swedes but talk about how they need to worry about the chunk of enemies who are Norwegians like them; the Swedes are described as horse-eaters.
