I'm looking up reference for an upcoming job, and find this awesome photo of Hong Kong harbor. One of the most striking things is the gracelessness of those small boats. What I think is going on is that they are fishing boats, and the big open spaces in the middle of the decks are actually big, deep enclosures for live fish, since I don't think they could've afforded refrigeration systems that easily and I know that really fresh seafood is a big thing in the local cuisine.
