I discovered that someone posted all of Zulu to YouTube. I've watched it a lot but not in years and recently I finished Diamonds, Gold and War, which really gives it some context.

The movie is ridiculously inaccurate about what happened, but it's a fun movie. A little like what would happen if Rudyard Kipling wrote a screenplay, though likely not as racist. Since a drinking game with alcohol (presumably gins and tonics) would get you pretty knackered halfway through the movie, the alternative drinking game for Zulu is;

  • Every time there's an inaccuracy, sip some tea. Darjeeling if you have it.
  • Every time a historical figure is completely revamped for this movie, drink tea, eat a bit of scone if you have them, and say "Damn poor showing, really."

Alternate history;

Suppose that Americans hadn't been quite so active about the "Mexican Adventure" going to the south, and more Egyptian troops had been shipped to Egypt. Instead of being heavily influenced by popular brass band music, Mexican popular music of the late 1800s becomes heavily influenced by Egyptian styling. That influence persists to modernity with mariachi bands featuring flute and dumbek players.
