Oct. 9th, 2010 03:15 pmRather than vent about stuff which pisses me off on art archives again, I'm going to point out that originally I liked Aliens most out of all the movies, and now, I really like Alien and Alien Resurrection more. A little bit like how my favorite parts of Lord of the Rings used to be all the heroic death sequences, and now my favorite parts are the places where Tolkien waxes poetic about old stuff spotted during the immense roadtrip.
The idea of a small crew of people on a spaceship is much more compelling than the idea of a couple of fire teams right now; I'm not sure whether this is age-spawned disillusionment with militarism, the way that first person shooters and skirmish-level wargames have sort of meant military sci-fi is everywhere, or whether it's that the small crew sounds more like a roleplaying game group. Could it be I became more of a roleplaying dweeb as I got older?
