Because I want to think about something cheery;

For a batch of reasons, I've never kept photos of my friends or relatives in my wallet or at my desk in my various jobs. Today I finally tried out using a photo as my desktop background. This is from last November, when I hitched a roadtrip up to Portland with friends and met up with a third friend to explore the Columbia Gorge a little. It turns out to be making me feel a little happier today at least. My friends are wearing coats, all of which are a pretty good fit for their personalities;

ridiculously well-made, but home-made, bright and colorful
a bright yellow North Face jacket, tough and outdoorsy
a dark storebought coat of some sort - but one of the nicer ones, good quality, nice stitching, and individualized

If you could have had any coat to wear that day, what kind of coat would you have wanted?

I was trying to travel light that trip, so I don't know if this counts the same way, but I honestly should have brought my grandfather's wool coat, or my old parka.

That is what you realistically would have been limited to. The handmade coat and the North Face jacket were both very conscious, active, and empowered choices. I was asking for a dream coat. If you had your druthers, what kind of thing would you have been wearing that day? A wool priestcoat? A leather bomber? A superlight and futuristic thin shell of science?
