The world can't end tomorrow. I mean, yeah, it's been a tough few years politically, and yes, I am looking forward to Baldr's return, and I guess the last two years have had pretty severe winters considering, but I dunno whether that qualifies as the Fimbulwinter and everything. I mean the real question here is whether enough corpses have been buried with untrimmed finger- and toenails, 'cause that determines whether the Jotuns can build Naglfar.

Posted a #SoundsBoring Twitter which summarizes Lord of the Rings as well-meaning toff travels to dispose of uncle's inheritance, accompanied by long-suffering, patient butler. I think that you could do a whole batch of Wodehouse styled fanfic, and it'd be hilarious - but I don't quite think I've read enough Wodehouse to do this.

But wait! Since Frodo winds up travelling the world with his "chums," including his cousins, you could combine Tolkien, Wodehouse and W.E. Johns with fanfic like Frodo Travels East and Frodo Defies the White Hand.
